SEMH & SEND Teaching Assistant – Sport & Outdoor Learning focused
- Special School
- Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) and SEND
- Immediate start
- Full-time/Long-term position
- 1 to 1; small group support
Are you energetic, resilient and passionate about using sport and outdoor learning to inspire young people?
We’re working with a specialist school in Cheltenham that supports pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and additional learning needs. The school is looking for positive, sporty role models who can build trusted relationships and encourage pupils to engage with their education.
Outdoor learning is a major part of the school’s approach, so this is an ideal opportunity for someone from a sports, coaching, youth work or education background. You’ll support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, using physical activity and practical experiences to develop confidence, teamwork and emotional regulation.
The role can be challenging, and pupils may display complex or distressed behaviour. However, with patience, consistency and a good sense of humour, you’ll have the opportunity to make a genuinely meaningful difference.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Energetic, active and enthusiastic about the outdoors
- A confident and positive role model
- Calm, resilient and able to manage challenging behaviour
- Skilled at building strong relationships with young people
- Interested in supporting pupils with SEMH and SEND
- Experienced in education, sports coaching, youth work or a similar setting — although transferable experience will be considered
This is a challenging but incredibly rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to help young people build confidence, develop new skills and experience success.
