Quality Inspector
Overview:
A keen, qualified quality inspector is sought by a company that manufactures and installs Ventilation ductwork throughout the UK. The individual should have experience in inspection and have a keen eye for detail. The role will require the individual to inspect welded frames, assemblies and components relating to ductwork, ensuring they follow specifications, guarantee the ductwork is manufactured to a high standard and sign off highly important inspection documents.
Duties:
- Dimensionally inspecting cut RSA steel, hole locations and visually inspecting welds.
- Calibrating measuring equipment, recording results and ensuring equipment is calibrated regularly
- Ensuring processes are being followed correctly in the manufacturing facility
- Writing detailed reports on the results of inspection and other observations about the product
- Signing off inspection records and producing as-fabricated drawings.
- Examining products closely to decide whether they are up to legal standards, safety standards, and the standards of the manufacturing company.
- Observing the methods and equipment manufacturing employees use during production and giving them advice to correct errors and increase efficiency
- Communicating with others in the Quality Control (QC) department so they become aware of any defects in the product and how to repair them
- Presenting solutions on how to prevent recurring defects in the future to the QC department
- Communicating with suppliers and distributors to let them know about potential problems and discuss how to solve them
- Sharing technical knowledge about the product with relevant staff
- Completing required paperwork with extreme attention to detail
- Prioritise tasks and organise time between Colwyn Bay and Kinmel Bay to ensure inspections are conducted.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum Grade C in Maths and English GCSE or equivalent
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 (desirable)
- Understanding of standards for Quality, Environment and Health & Safety (desirable)
- Welding experience or understanding
- Understanding of specifications
- Attention to Detail and organisational skills
- An understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes (desirable)
- Ability to Conduct +/-1mm tolerance measurements
- Excellent Communication, Presentation and Writing skills
- Computer Literacy
- Team Player and ability to work alone
- PNC Level 2 or CSWIP (desirable)

Mon – Thursday 8.30am - 5pm Friday 8.30am – 2pm
