Health Care Assistant
Starting date: September 2026
We are seeking a caring, reliable, and flexible Health Care Assistant to support the smooth and efficient running of the College Medical Centre.
Working closely with the Senior Nursing Sister and Medical Centre team, the successful candidate will help care for pupils who are unwell; monitor pupils in Medical Centre; assist with medical administration and record keeping; maintain supplies and cleanliness and provide reassurance and support to pupils.
Training will be provided, although previous Health Care Assistant experience would be advantageous.
As a boarding school, we provide overnight cover 7 days a week in our medical centre. This role includes a mixture of day and overnight duties during term time, with the possibility of some weekends. Overnight shifts are generally 8.00pm–8.00am on call, with sleeping accommodation provided. Day shifts are generally 8.00am-8.00pm, with some flexibility to support the full team rota. The post is part time, term time only plus a training week (total of 34 weeks per year). We anticipate that this post will be 12 to 18 hours per week, subject to discussion.
Salary will be paid in accordance with the College pay scale and will include pro-rata holiday pay.
Applicants should be compassionate, organised, and able to remain calm under pressure. A full driving licence and access to a fully insured vehicle are essential, as occasional transport and chaperone duties may be required.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
