The Heritage Bakery is a SALSA-certified artisan bakery based in Wantage, producing high-quality breads, pastries and baked goods for both retail and wholesale customers across Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable and hardworking Bakery Packing Operative to join our team. This is an important role within the bakery, helping to ensure our products are packed, labelled and prepared to the highest standards before reaching our customers.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a keen eye for detail and enjoys working as part of a supportive team in a fast-paced production environment. Whether you have previous food production experience or are looking to develop new skills, full training will be provided for the right candidate.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role within a busy bakery environment, helping to ensure our freshly baked products are packed, labelled and prepared to the highest standards before being delivered to our customers.
The role involves operating packing machinery, hand-packing bakery products, carrying out quality checks, preparing orders for dispatch and maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Pack and label bakery products accurately to customer specifications.
- Operate packing machinery safely and efficiently.
- Prepare and pick customer orders for dispatch.
- Carry out quality checks to ensure products meet company standards.
- Follow stock rotation procedures and maintain product freshness.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and housekeeping.
- Support the wider bakery team with general production and packing duties.
About You
- Reliable, punctual and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and undertaking manual handling tasks.
- Flexible and willing to work varying shift patterns.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a bakery, food production, packing or manufacturing environment.
- Food hygiene or food handling experience.
- Experience operating packing or production machinery.
