Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable School Caretaker to maintain the safety, cleanliness, and overall condition of our school premises. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring a secure and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. We are an APSCo Member and all candidates must pass full screening and vetting.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine cleaning and maintenance of classrooms, corridors, toilets, and communal areas to ensure high standards of hygiene and presentation.
- Conduct regular safety checks of the school premises, including fire alarms, emergency exits, and security systems.
- Perform minor repairs and report major maintenance issues to the appropriate department or contractor.
- Ensure outdoor areas such as playgrounds, sports fields, and car parks are tidy and safe for use.
- Manage waste disposal efficiently and in accordance with environmental policies.
- Monitor heating, lighting, and ventilation systems to maintain a comfortable environment within the school.
- Assist with setting up rooms for events or activities as required.
- Respond promptly to any security concerns or emergencies during school hours.
Requirements
- Previous experience in property maintenance or caretaking roles is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Basic DIY skills and knowledge of health and safety regulations are advantageous.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks such as lifting, moving equipment, or outdoor maintenance work.
- A positive attitude towards teamwork and supporting a school environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities or additional duties as required by the school schedule.
Pay: From £25,000.00 per year
