Head Chef – Lead Our Friendly Pub Kitchen Team
We are looking for an experienced, reliable, and passionate Head Chef to lead our small, close-knit kitchen team in a welcoming pub environment.
About the Role
As Head Chef, you will take responsibility for the overall running of the kitchen, ensuring the consistent delivery of fresh, high-quality pub food while maintaining excellent standards of food safety, organisation, and team leadership. This is a hands-on role that requires strong leadership skills, creativity, and the ability to thrive in a busy service environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all day-to-day kitchen operations
- Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard
- Develop and update menus in line with seasonal ingredients and customer demand
- Train, motivate, and support kitchen team members
- Manage stock ordering, rotation, and supplier relationships
- Control food costs and minimise waste
- Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, health, and safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
- Work closely with front-of-house staff to deliver an excellent customer experience
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Senior Chef in a pub, restaurant, or casual dining environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
- Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
- Good understanding of stock control, food costing, and kitchen administration
- Knowledge of food safety and health & safety regulations
- Passion for quality food, fresh ingredients, and creating great pub dishes
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
