Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced, organised and enthusiastic Head Dental Nurse with a strong interest and ideally experience in implant dentistry to join our well-established dental practice in North London.
This is a hands-on clinical nursing and leadership role, with a particular focus on supporting our implant clinic and implant patients, alongside overseeing and supporting the wider dental nursing team.
We have a long-standing, loyal and supportive team and are looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining excellent clinical standards, infection control and patient care.
The position would suit an existing Head Dental Nurse or an experienced Dental Nurse with implant experience who is ready to progress into a more senior leadership role.
About the role
As Head Dental Nurse, you will combine hands-on clinical nursing, particularly within our implant service, with responsibility for helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the clinical side of the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing chairside nursing support for dental implant procedures
- Preparing and setting up surgeries for implant treatment
- Ensuring implant equipment, materials and surgical instruments are prepared and maintained appropriately
- Supporting patients throughout their implant treatment journey
- Acting as the practice Infection Control Lead
- Leading, supporting and helping to organise the dental nursing team
- Providing support, guidance and training to junior dental nurses
- Supporting the induction and ongoing development of new and less experienced dental nurses
- Maintaining excellent standards of infection prevention and cross-infection control
- Overseeing decontamination and sterilisation procedures
- Ensuring surgeries are appropriately prepared, stocked and maintained
- Supporting dentists during a wide variety of dental procedures
- Helping ensure practice protocols, policies and clinical standards are consistently followed
- Assisting with nursing rotas and day-to-day nursing cover where required
- Monitoring clinical stock and coordinating ordering of materials and supplies
- Helping maintain clinical equipment and ensuring servicing and maintenance requirements are followed up
- Supporting the practice with audits, compliance and clinical governance
- Maintaining accurate patient records and confidentiality
- Providing excellent patient care, particularly for patients undergoing more complex or surgical treatment
- Liaising closely with clinicians, management and the wider practice team
What we are looking for
The successful candidate must:
- Be a qualified Dental Nurse
- Be registered with the GDC
- Ideally have a minimum of 3 years' dental nursing experience
- Have previous Head Dental Nurse / Senior Dental Nurse experience, or demonstrate the ability and confidence to step into a leadership role
- Have a strong interest in implant dentistry
- Be confident working in a busy clinical environment and supporting surgical procedures
- Be confident acting as an Infection Control Lead
- Be able to provide training, guidance and support to junior dental nurses
- Be fully immunised, including Hepatitis B
- Hold an appropriate DBS certificate
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Have an excellent command of written and spoken English
- Have strong organisational and communication skills
- Be reliable, proactive and professional
- Have a genuine commitment to maintaining high standards of clinical care and patient experience
- Have some flexibility to work Saturdays when required
Desirable experience
The following would be particularly desirable:
- Previous experience nursing for dental implant surgery
- Experience within an implant clinic or surgical dental environment
- Experience assisting with implant placement and associated surgical procedures
- Experience nursing within a specialist or advanced endodontic clinic
- Previous experience as an Infection Control Lead
- Experience training and supporting junior dental nurses
Implant nursing experience would be a significant advantage for this position.

Salary: £16.50–£19.50 per hour, depending on experience
Full-time position with some flexibility to work Saturdays when required.
