Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Lunchtime Cover staff member to join our team from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. This role involves supervising children during their lunch break, ensuring their safety, and supporting their social and behavioural development. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate leadership qualities to create a positive and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Assist children with eating and encourage good table manners
- Support children in socialising and engaging in appropriate behaviour during break time
- Maintain a clean and organised dining area after meals
- Collaborate with nursery staff to ensure smooth transition between activities
- Monitor children's behaviour and report any concerns to senior staff promptly
- Engage children in light activities or conversations to promote social skills
Skills
- Experience working with children, preferably within a nursery or early childhood setting
- Strong management and leadership abilities to oversee children's safety and behaviour
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of childcare practices and early childhood education principles
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a nursery environment
- Organised, responsible, and attentive to detail in managing children's needs during lunchtime
- Driving licence is desirable for potential travel between nursery sites or activities
