Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Manager to oversee clinical operations and staff within our mental healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, have extensive experience in similar healthcare settings, and a sound understanding of CQC standards and legislation that underpins local policy and procedure . This pivotal role ensures the delivery of high-quality care while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Ensuring the highest standard of care is being delivered and that care is person centred and evidence based
- Monitoring the effectiveness of care plans and the level of resident engagement
- Being responsible for quality assurance in clinical areas, utilising audits as a tool to improve quality and effectiveness
- Managing risk within the home. Possessing an understanding of Health & Safety. Understanding of Safeguard and what actions to take dependent upon thresholds.
- Having comprehensive knowledge of Mental Capacity & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and being able to demonstrate how this is applied in practice
- Taking the lead in the pre-admission assessment of potential new residents and liaising with social care providers and leading in the admission of suitable residents to the service
- Completing statutory notifications (e.g. Safeguard alerts) and in the absence of the Registered Manager completing CQC notifications
- Supporting and managing Infection Prevention & Control measures to ensure standards are maintained in the Clinical and wider areas alongside support colleagues
- Maintaining own continuing professional development and completion of training necessary for your role
- Ongoing assessment of medication administration, ensuring policies and procedures are being maintained, complete regular audit and ensure support/ training for staff is made available
- Establishing a professional relationship and rapport with visiting professionals and the carers and loved ones of our residents
Management Responsibilities
- Deputising for the Registered Manager in their absence in relation to all care matters
- Leading and managing the Clinical team at Avondale
- Being responsible for the Clinical Rota & arranging cover when required to ensure suitable levels of staffing within Avondale
- Monitoring and management of attendance in accordance with local policy
- Promoting an equitable environment and a safe space for staff to work in
- Providing mentoring, support and education to the Clinical Team and Students on placement
- Undertaking appraisal, development, supervision and performance management of the Clinical Team
- Supporting Nursing staff with revalidation in accordance with NMC
- On-Call- providing junior staff with support over evenings and weekends in the event of an emergency alongside other senior colleagues
- Completing reports and investigations if required by Safeguarding or the CQC
Specifications (Essential)
- First level Registered Nurse Qualification with an active PIN
- NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management (or equivalent)
- Post Qualification training and/ or Continuing Professional Development
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of key guidance and legislation
- Demonstrate effective communication with a different range of individuals
- Demonstrate effective time management and organisation skills
- Demonstrate an ability to write concise reports within a designated timescale
- Demonstrate good digital skills with a working knowledge of Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Demonstrate the ability to work under own initiative
- Demonstrate experience of supervising a Clinical Team
- Demonstrate ability to compile suitable staffing roster
Desirable
- At least 12 months experience of management at a similar healthcare setting
- Dual Registration RMN/ RGN
- Evidence of working with individuals who have complex needs
- Evidence of change process and experience of managing change within a care setting
- Evidence of CQC standards and what areas have to be met to achieve Good and Outstanding
- Evidence experience of managing conflict
- Evidence of managing performance of others
