Civilistix is a growing civil engineering consultancy specialising in the planning, and detailed design of highways and drainage infrastructure.
We support our clients through all stages of the development process, from planning stage reports (FRA, drainage strategies, feasibility studies) through to detailed highway and drainage design packages for approval and construction.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer with strong experience in highways and drainage design within a UK consultancy environment. We are a small collaborative team who operate on a fully remote basis.
You will:
- Lead and manage multiple infrastructure design projects across various sectors.
- Deliver both planning reports and detailed design packages.
- Work directly with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
- Play a key role in a small, growing consultancy.
Important: This is a design consultancy role focused on technical design, drawings, and reports. It is not a site-based or construction engineering role.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Preparation of compliant surface water and sustainable urban drainage strategy reports to support planning applications.
- Preparation of compliant flood risk assessment (FRA) reports to support planning applications.
- Preparation of compliant private and adoptable (S104 of the Water Industry Act 1991) drainage designs for technical approval and construction.
- Preparation of compliant private and adoptable (S38 / S278 of the Highways Act 1980) highway designs for technical approval and construction.
- Liaise with the relevant third-party stakeholders (including Lead Local Flood Authority, Highway Departments, Environment Agency, Internal Drainage Boards, Statutory Undertakers, and the like) to obtaining drainage and highway consents and approvals.
- Undertake AutoCAD and 3D drafting / modelling in relation to highway and drainage projects in an efficient and timely manner.
- Attend Teams meetings as necessary to support project delivery.
- Obtain and manage third-party quotations, advice, and inputas needed.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' UK consultancy experience delivering highways and drainage designs.
- Experience in technical report-writing.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- Ability to work independently within a remote environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads effectively.
Qualifications/Software Skills:
- Highly proficient in the use of AutoCAD (essential).
- Competent in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- HNC/HND or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related subject).
- Site 3D / Causeway Flow experience would be highly advantageous.
