We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Material Handling / Loading Bay / Door Engineer to join our team and ensure the smooth operation of loading bays, doors, and material handling systems across our facilities. Duties
- Install, inspect, repair, and maintain loading bay doors, dock levelers, and associated equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems related to doors and loading bays using schematics and technical manuals.
- Use hand tools and power tools to carry out fabrication, welding, carpentry, masonry, plastering, and construction painting tasks as needed for system upgrades or repairs.
- Conduct routine safety checks on all material handling machinery and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist with construction projects involving roofing, plumbing, electrical wiring, or structural modifications that impact loading bay areas.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications using welding and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational requirements.
- Collaborate with other trades such as roofing, plumbing, electrical, masonry, or carpentry teams during complex projects involving multiple disciplines.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, schematics used, and parts replaced for accountability and future reference.
Experience
- Proven experience working with loading bay systems, dock doors, or similar material handling equipment in a construction or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems related to automated doors and loading bays.
- Hands-on experience with welding, fabrication, carpentry, masonry, plastering or construction painting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring or mechanical systems used in door operations.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently across various trades including roofing, plumbing or masonry work.
- Previous experience working on construction sites or within industrial facilities is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as welding licenses or electrical qualifications will be considered an advantage.
