Looking for a full-time role from September? PE Direct is recruiting Teaching Assistants on behalf of a welcoming secondary school in Cardiff, supporting students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and behavioural needs within a Specialist Resource Base (SRB).
This is a great opportunity to secure a long-term role in a local secondary school from September. We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and wants to make a real difference to their education and wellbeing.
Experience in sports coaching, PE, youth work, mentoring, behaviour support or education would be highly desirable. You will use your experience to build positive relationships, encourage engagement and support students to reach their potential.
The SRB supports students aged 11–16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), social communication needs and associated behavioural and emotional needs. You will work alongside experienced staff, providing 1:1 and small-group support both in and out of the classroom.
Your role will include:
- Supporting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement with learning
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Using sport and physical activity to encourage confidence, resilience, teamwork and wellbeing
- Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
- Working alongside teachers and specialist staff to provide tailored support
- Helping create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
What we are looking for:
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience in sports coaching, PE, youth work, mentoring, behaviour support, ALN or education is highly desirable
- Confidence supporting young people with ASD, social communication needs and challenging behaviour
- Strong communication skills, patience and resilience
- A positive role model who can motivate and inspire students
- Someone looking for a rewarding, full-time, long-term role within education
You do not need to hold a formal Teaching Assistant qualification to apply, but relevant experience working with young people is essential.
