We are looking for candidates to join our Subculture Department as full time and part time Technicians.
The main purpose of the subculture technician is to co-ordinate with the analytical laboratory, diagnostics Laboratory and the Molecular lab to subculture Pathogens in the isolation room adhering to strict aseptic techniques thereby eliminating cross contamination and to deal with hazardous waste.
Main duties include:
The subculture of pathogen pre-enrichment broths.
Liaising with Analytical Laboratory staff to incubate the pathogen pre-enrichment broths.
Maintain and co-ordinate all paperwork connected to the subculture of pathogens.
Keeping the isolation rooms clean and tidy.
Keeping the waste room clean and tidy.
Autoclaving and sluicing of waste.
Cleaning and maintaining autoclaves and disposing of autoclaved waste. Ensuring health and safety matters are dealt with cautiously.
Subculture of trials, Internal and External Quality checks.
Dispose of Hazardous waste.
The suitable candidates will be hardworking and reliable with an excellent work ethic and attention to detail.
The hours are:
Monday to Friday, 12pm to 8pm, with a 30 minute unpaid break.
or
Sunday, 12pm to 8pm, with a 30-minute break.
Some overtime may be required at the end of your shift.
