Administrative Underwriter (Surety Bonds)
Location: Guernsey (office based, on-island)
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience)
About the business
Titanium ICC Limited (“Titanium”) is a Guernsey incorporated cell company established by the Accquis Group, a UK-headquartered specialist insurance group whose businesses include managing general agents, warranty and guarantee brands and reinsurance vehicles operating across the UK and internationally. Titanium’s first cell will underwrite surety bonds for the UK construction and infrastructure sector, supported by an established panel of reinsurers.
This is the first operational hire into the Guernsey business. The successful candidate will build and run the bond administration function from day one, working closely with group underwriting colleagues in the UK, the Company’s appointed insurance manager in Guernsey, and Group leadership. It is a rare opportunity to shape a new, well-capitalised insurer from the ground up, with clear scope to grow with the business as the licence, book and team develop.
Purpose of the role
To administer the Company’s surety bond portfolio accurately, efficiently and in full compliance with GFSC requirements — owning the bond lifecycle from issuance through to release — and to provide underwriting support to the Group’s underwriting team within agreed authority and referral criteria.
Key responsibilities
Bond administration
- Prepare, check, issue and record surety bond documentation (including performance bonds, retention bonds and other construction-related guarantees) accurately and within agreed service standards.
- Maintain the Company’s bond register, ensuring a complete and current record of all bonds in force, expired, extended, cancelled or released.
- Monitor bond expiries, extensions and releases; chase outstanding release confirmations and update records accordingly.
- Process premium invoicing and collection; monitor and report aged debt.
- Prepare and submit accurate bordereaux and cession statements to reinsurers within reporting deadlines.
- Obtain, verify and record counter-indemnities and supporting security documentation prior to bond issuance.
Underwriting support
- Gather and organise underwriting information (contract details, financial statements, work-in-progress schedules) to support case assessment.
- Prepare cases for underwriting review; process approvals within delegated criteria and refer matters outside appetite or authority to the Group underwriting team.
- Maintain complete, audit-ready underwriting files and record all decisions and referrals.
Broker and client service
- Act as first point of contact for day-to-day queries from brokers, contractors and bond beneficiaries, resolving or escalating promptly and professionally.
- Build effective working relationships with the Group’s UK distribution and underwriting teams.
Compliance and regulatory support
- Maintain records and controls to the standard required of a GFSC-licensed insurer.
- Carry out customer due diligence, AML/CFT and sanctions screening checks in line with the Company’s policies and Guernsey requirements.
- Assist the appointed insurance manager with regulatory returns, board reporting packs and periodic compliance reporting.
Management information and general
- Maintain KPI dashboards and produce regular management information on the bond book, exposures, premium and service levels.
- Help design and continuously improve administration processes, templates and checklists, making effective use of the Group’s technology and AI tools.
- Provide flexible support across the business as required in a small, growing team.
What we offer
- A foundational role in a new insurer, with genuine influence over how the operation is built.
- Competitive salary of £35,000 – £45,000 dependent on experience, reviewed as the business grows.
- Support for professional study, including Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications.
- Direct exposure to group leadership, underwriting, reinsurance and regulatory work far beyond a typical administration role.
