South Devon Welding is looking for a motivated Workshop Fabrication Assistant to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on role within a busy fabrication workshop, assisting with a variety of steel, stainless steel and aluminium fabrication projects. The position would suit someone with practical skills, a good work ethic and an interest in welding, fabrication, engineering or manufacturing.
Duties include:
- Assisting fabricators and welders
- Preparing materials for fabrication
- Cutting, grinding and finishing components
- Loading and unloading materials
- General workshop organisation and housekeeping
- Assisting with installations when required
- Operating hand and power tools safely
- Learning fabrication and welding techniques
Essential:
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable and punctual
- Physically fit and capable of manual work
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions
Desirable:
- Previous workshop, construction or engineering experience
- Welding experience (MIG/TIG/MMA)
- Forklift experience
- Ability to read engineering drawings
