About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Professional Services Consultant to design, deliver, and support enterprise-scale search, analytics, observability, and data platform solutions for customers operating in highly secure and mission-critical environments. This is a customer-facing role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent consulting skills, and the ability to deliver complex solutions from architecture through implementation.
Due to the nature of our customers, applicants must hold current UK Developed Vetting (DV) or Enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV) security clearance. The role involves a significant amount of onsite work with customers across the South East and South West of England.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimise enterprise search, observability, analytics, and operational intelligence platforms.
- Deliver professional services engagements from discovery and solution design through implementation, knowledge transfer, and customer handover.
- Work directly with customers to gather requirements, define technical solutions, prioritise workstreams, and deliver successful outcomes.
- Design and build scalable data ingestion pipelines supporting both real-time and batch workloads.
- Architect and operate highly available, secure, distributed platforms running on Kubernetes and public cloud environments.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, infrastructure, networking, and data platforms.
- Implement infrastructure automation and modern delivery practices using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tooling.
- Apply secure-by-design principles, including identity and access management, role-based access controls, and data governance.
- Deliver technical workshops, training sessions, and presentations to customer engineering teams and technical audiences.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to share customer feedback and technical best practices.
Required Experience & Skills
- Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch and/or Lucene, or closely related technologies including Splunk, OpenSearch, Solr, Palantir, Datadog, Grafana, or equivalent search, observability, analytics, or operational intelligence platforms.
- Experience with use cases including SIEM, log analytics, threat detection, mission-critical monitoring, or similar operational workloads.
- Minimum 5 years' experience delivering professional services or consulting engagements.
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Software Engineer, Systems Administrator, or DevOps Engineer.
- Current UK Developed Vetting (DV) or Enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV) security clearance.
- Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems, enterprise search platforms, analytics platforms, or data platforms within high-volume, highly available, and security-sensitive environments.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, indexing strategies, search relevance, query optimisation, search performance tuning, and information retrieval concepts.
- Experience building large-scale ingestion pipelines using technologies such as Kafka, Logstash, Elastic Agent, Fluentd, RabbitMQ, or equivalent messaging and streaming platforms.
- Experience deploying and managing workloads using Kubernetes, cloud-native technologies, and public cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code and automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Pulumi, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Argo CD, or Flux.
- Strong understanding of secure deployment architectures, regulated environments, and security best practices.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across application, infrastructure, networking, and data layers.
- Experience delivering technical training, workshops, or presentations to engineers and technical stakeholders.
- Excellent customer engagement, communication, and consulting skills.
- Passion for open-source technologies with proficiency in at least one programming language.
- Working knowledge of Linux, Java, and relational or NoSQL databases.
Desirable
- Experience working within UK Government, Defense, National Security, or other highly regulated sectors.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise production environments with stringent availability and security requirements.
- Relevant industry certifications in cloud platforms, Kubernetes, Elastic, or related technologies.
Working Arrangements
This role requires a high percentage of onsite customer engagement across the South East and South West of England, with travel to customer sites as required.
Pay: £550.00-£600.00 per day
