About Us
We are a growing accountancy practice providing bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and accounting services to a diverse portfolio of clients. We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for the role to become permanent.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will support our accounting team by maintaining accurate financial records, carrying out reconciliations, assisting with HMRC administration, and providing general client secretarial support.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing sales and purchase invoices using accounting software.
- Performing bank reconciliations and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Reconciling debtor and creditor ledgers.
- Assisting with VAT return preparation and related bookkeeping tasks.
- Liaising with HMRC regarding VAT agent authorisations and other client-related matters.
- Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring statutory and administrative requirements are met.
- Providing general secretarial and administrative support for clients.
- Supporting the accountants and wider team with day-to-day practice administration.
Requirements
- AAT Level 3 qualification (or currently studying towards AAT Level 3).
- Fluency in both English and Italian (written and spoken) is essential.
- Good numerical and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively as part of a team.
- A positive, professional, and proactive attitude.
- Previous bookkeeping experience is not required, as full training will be provided.
