Role Summary
We are seeking a Head of Claims to join our leading global MGA, Rokstone Underwriting. The successful candidate will lead and oversee claims activity across multiple lines of business, with a particular focus on complex, high-value and long-tail liability claims. The role requires a highly experienced and technically strong claims professional with deep expertise in casualty and liability claims handling, litigation management, reserving and strategic claims oversight.
The Head of Claims will play a key role in supporting underwriting teams, managing market relationships, driving claims governance and contributing to the continued development of Rokstone’s global claims proposition.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience handling complex liability exposures within the Lloyd’s and/or London Market, including US litigation and other long-duration Casualty claims.
Role Accountabilities
- Lead the handling and oversight of significant, complex and long tail claims across Rokstone’s portfolio.
- Develop and implement claims strategies to achieve effective and commercially appropriate outcomes.
- Provide technical oversight and referral support to claims handlers across multiple classes of business.
- Collaborate closely with underwriting teams on coverage interpretation, claims trends, emerging risks and portfolio performance.
- Maintain oversight of claims reserving, large loss management and lifecycle exposure monitoring.
- Work closely with actuarial teams on reserving adequacy, IBNR assessments and claims trend analysis.
- Ensure key stakeholders and capacity providers receive timely and accurate reporting on material claims developments.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of claims procedures, governance frameworks, controls and operational processes.
- Support the continued evolution of claims systems, workflow management and claims MI capabilities.
- Develop and maintain watchlists for significant claims and emerging exposure matters.
- Mentor and support claims team members, contributing to technical development and succession planning.
- Lead the claims committees, peer reviews and audit processes where required.
- Positively promote and enhance the Rokstone brand internally and externally.
- Collaborate across the wider Group to continuously improve claims service delivery and technical capability. Analysis of new complaints, notifications and claims where deemed complex to determine a case strategy, manage for the purposes of reserving and expectations of longevity.
- Build and manage relationships with external experts across all classes of business for the purposes of retention on losses. Assist in management of TPA relationships, particularly in contract terms and authorities.
- Participate in the development of the Atomx products, particularly Quantum.

Role Requirements
- Significant experience (10+ years) handling complex losses across various lines of business.

Experience managing long tail liability and casualty claims

Strong understanding of reserving principles, claims lifecycle management and coverage

Experience managing TPAs and service providers

Ability to maintain case files using strategic planning and reserving knowledge.
- Mentoring and leadership in training direct reports.
- Preferably Dip CII Qualified as a minimum.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills.
