Job Purpose
To maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff by carrying out housekeeping duties to a high standard. As a Bank Housekeeper, you will provide flexible cover for planned and unplanned absences and support the care home's commitment to delivering excellent resident care.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain residents' bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, offices, and other designated areas.
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with the home's cleaning schedules and infection prevention procedures.
- Vacuum, dust, mop, polish, and sanitise surfaces to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Make and change beds, ensuring rooms are tidy, comfortable, and well-presented.
- Safely handle, store, and use cleaning products and equipment in line with health and safety guidelines.
- Dispose of waste appropriately and follow recycling procedures where applicable.
- Report maintenance issues, hazards, damaged equipment, or concerns to the appropriate person.
- Assist with laundry duties when required, including washing, drying, ironing, and distributing residents' clothing and linens.
- Support infection control measures and respond promptly to cleaning requirements during outbreaks.
- Treat residents with dignity, respect, and compassion, promoting their comfort and wellbeing.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, families, and staff at all times.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a positive environment throughout the home.
Skills and ExperienceEssential
- Good understanding of cleaning practices and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Reliable, flexible, and able to work bank shifts as required.
- Commitment to providing excellent service within a care environment.
Desirable
- Previous housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality, or care home experience.

Working Conditions
- Flexible bank shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required.

Safeguarding
This role involves working with vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold safeguarding principles and may be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and references in accordance with regulatory requirements.
