Reports to: Head of Brand & Integrated Communications
Salary: £40,000 per annum
About Us
British Horse Society (BHS) is the UK’s largest equine charity, helping horses and everyone who cares for them enjoy the best possible life together. We make riding safer, champion the welfare of horses, protect off road riding routes, encourage participation and increase education and understanding around horses. Whether your time with horses is a bit of fun, a life’s passion or a life’s work, we make sure you can always find happiness, confidence and contentment together.
Job Purpose
We’re looking for a Brand & Creative Manager to help establish and bring the new BHS brand to life across our communications, campaigns and creative content. You’ll make sure our brand looks, feels and sounds consistent, bringing out key messages and being engaging for our audiences. You’ll also lead a small team to deliver high-quality assets and content, including our member magazine, British Horse, as well as communications that support our charitable impact, supporter engagement and income goals.
What you'll be doing:
-
Acting as a brand champion, helping our teams use our visual identity and tone of voice with confidence.
-
Managing brand guidelines, toolkits, training and sign-off processes.
-
Planning and prioritising creative work across campaigns, publications and key projects.
-
Leading a small brand and creative team, supporting their development and day-to-day delivery.
-
Working with internal teams, freelancers and agencies to produce design, photography, video, case studies and written content, managing content in our asset library.
-
Managing budgets and finding cost-effective ways to deliver great creative work.
-
Supporting key publications, including British Horse Magazine, our annual report and impact reports.
What you won’t be doing:
- You won’t be working in isolation — this role is all about collaboration across teams.
-
Managing from a distance — you’ll get hands-on at photoshoots, get involved in proofing and supporting your creative team to deliver high quality work.
-
You won’t be focused on brand for brand’s sake — you’ll help establish our new brand so it delivers its key purpose, and define how we bring it to life for our audiences across different types of content.
-
You won’t be standing still — you’ll look for better ways to manage, measure and improve our brand and creative output.
This is a great role for you if:
- You have strong experience in brand management or managing a creative team, ideally in a membership or fundraising organisation.
-
You have a great eye for detail and know how to make creative work clear, consistent and engaging.
-
You can build strong relationships and influence people at all levels.
-
You’re highly organised, experienced at scheduling workloads, work calm under pressure and able to balance competing priorities.
-
You’re comfortable leading through change and spotting opportunities to improve.
-
You have good equestrian knowledge, with the practical understanding needed to support technical brand sign-off.
-
You want to work in an inclusive organisation that supports you to bring your full, authentic self to work.
