About Us
Staines Engineering Ltd is a manufacturer of high-quality bespoke agricultural trailers, as well as carrying out trailer repairs and refurbishments. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Spray Painter to join our workshop team in Great Torrington.
This is a hands-on role within a friendly and supportive team, working on a variety of trailers and fabricated steel products. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has excellent attention to detail, and is committed to producing a high-quality finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying primers as required.
- Mix paints, primers, and coatings to the correct specifications and consistency.
- Paint new trailers, repaired trailers, fabricated steelwork, and other components to a high standard.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are achieved.
- Carry out daily cleaning and routine maintenance of spray-painting equipment and breathing apparatus.
- Work from job cards and instructions to complete tasks within required timescales.
- Maintain paint stock levels and report shortages to the Workshop Supervisor.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure efficient workflow throughout the workshop.
- Keep work areas, spray booths, and equipment clean, organised, and safe.
- Dispose of waste materials safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year's experience as a Spray Painter is required.
- Experience using air-assisted or airless spray-painting equipment.
- Experience applying industrial or commercial paint systems.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Positive and proactive attitude towards work.

Pay: £15.00-£16.89 per hour
