Position Overview: As a Workshop Controller at Budgen Shrewsbury, you will work closely with the Workshop Manager and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our service department. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the workshop, managing a team of skilled technicians, and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Workshop Management:
- Coordinate and prioritise daily workshop activities to optimise efficiency.
- Allocate work to technicians based on skill levels and workload.
- Monitor progress and ensure timely completion of all tasks
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and motivate a team of technicians to achieve individual and collective performance targets.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to enhance the skills of workshop staff
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure all work carried out meets manufacturer and dealership standards.
- Conduct quality checks and inspections to guarantee customer satisfaction.
- Address and resolve any customer concerns or complaints promptly.
- Inventory and Resource Management:
- Manage workshop resources, including tools and equipment, to maintain operational efficiency.
- Monitor and control the usage of parts and materials to minimize wastage.
- Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure timely availability of required components.
- Customer Service:
- Interact with customers to understand their service requirements.
- Provide accurate and transparent cost estimates for repairs and services.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding the status of their vehicles.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar role within the automotive industry.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive systems and repair processes.
- Familiarity with dealership operations and customer service principles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
