Biddys by Soph is a retro-inspired cafe/diner where we serve up everything from breakfasts, lunches, burgers and desserts to waffles, milkshakes, bakes, pancakes and loaded fries – all in a welcoming environment.
Currently open Wednesday to Saturday but wanting to extend this further asap to include Tuesdays & Sundays, with plans also to extend this to some evenings - it is an excellent opportunity for someone to make their mark & use their creativity to grow the business & offering.
We’re looking at offering roast dinners in house & via deliveries on a Sunday & we also run a lunchtime hot meal delivery service locally.
Outside catering is also another avenue that we are currently pursing, with a number of events already booked into the diary.
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced, creative and passionate Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to head up our kitchen & help grow the business accordingly using their skills, experience & creativity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, ensuring high standards of food hygiene, quality and safety, and managing kitchen operations efficiently.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong background in hospitality and catering to contribute to menu planning, specials, theme nights etc as well as looking at further options for the business such as outside catering opportunities.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen, creating a positive and productive work environment
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes meet quality standards and presentation expectations
- Manage food preparation processes, including planning menus & sourcing ingredients.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure an excellent customer experience everytime
- Develop new recipes, specials and menu items to keep offerings fresh, appealing & in keeping with current trends & seasons.
- Taking photos, videos & content for all social media channels/website - eg of new dishes.
- Assisting with the planning & facilitation of cookery classes, workshops & events for both adults & children.
- Order supplies and manage stock rotation effectively to ensure the kitchen is always stocked correctly
- Train any staff on cooking techniques, new dishes, food safety protocols, and customer service standards
Experience
- Proven senior supervisor experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive background in catering & hospitality
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hospitality settings
- Experience working in a cafe/restaurant or similar hospitality establishment is highly desirable
- The ability to manage time effectively & productively during quieter times.

Pay: £12.71-£18.50 per hour
