Part-Time Companion Required – Welsh Borders, Near Knighton, Powys
A warm, reliable and discreet individual is sought to provide part-time companionship and light practical support for an elderly lady living in a beautiful private household near Knighton, Powys.
This is a rewarding role where companionship, kindness, common sense and respect for privacy are essential.
The Role
Duties will include:
- Providing friendly companionship and social interaction
- Driving to appointments, shopping trips and local outings
- Light gardening
- Laundry and ironing
- Light housekeeping and general household support
Hours are flexible, approximately 10–15 hours per week.
Accommodation
For the right candidate, accommodation may be available in an immaculate one-bedroom cottage with beautiful views across the Teme Valley.
About You
The successful candidate will be:
- Friendly, caring and dependable
- Discreet and respectful of privacy
- Positive, practical and self-motivated
- Comfortable working in a private family household
- In possession of a full, clean driving licence
Previous care or companion experience would be desirable but is not essential.
Vetting and Pre-Employment Checks
Due to the private nature of the household and the role supporting an elderly person, the successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment checks before appointment. These will include:
- Proof of identity and address
- Right to work verification
- Driving licence check
- Two satisfactory references, including telephone verification
- Enhanced DBS check, arranged through an approved umbrella body
- Confidentiality agreement
- Any other proportionate checks relevant to the role
Appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of these checks and a probationary period.
Salary
Salary will be discussed depending on experience, hours and whether accommodation is required.
