Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Warehouse Operative/Picker to join our logistics team. This role involves handling a variety of warehouse tasks, including order picking, packing, and stock management, to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining stock accuracy and supporting shipping and receiving processes within a busy warehouse environment.
Duties
- Pick materials/components according to production orders or pick lists, ensuring correct quantity, part number, location and quality.
- Deliver the picked items to the production area or dispatch zone in time to meet production/dispatch schedules.
- Maintain inventory accuracy: recording transactions, reporting discrepancies (missing items, damaged goods, mis-picks).
- Ensure good warehouse housekeeping: keep aisles, racks and pallets tidy, apply 5S/lean principles where required.
- Comply with health & safety, site rules and company procedures.
- Work as part of a team: communicating with Supervisors, warehouse colleagues, production operators to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform other reasonable duties from time to time as requested by your supervisor (e.g., assisting with stock takes, forklift-truck support if/when qualified).
Qualifications
- Previous experience in warehouse operations or logistics is preferred but not essential as training will be provided
- Knowledge of materials handling, picking & packing, and stock management processes
- Mechanical knowledge or experience operating forklift trucks is advantageous
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail for quality control tasks
- Physical fitness to handle manual handling duties and long periods of standing or walking within the warehouse environment
- Strong team player with good communication skills
