Job Overview
Machine Operators are responsible for the day-to-day running of production equipment, ensuring machines operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest possible standard throughout each shift. This includes configuring equipment settings to match production recipes, operating machinery in line with standard operating procedures, and continuously monitoring performance to optimise output and minimise downtime.
Operators play a key role in ensuring machines run at full capacity, proactively identifying and resolving minor faults or stoppages to keep production flowing. They carry out basic maintenance and hygiene checks to keep equipment in good working order and compliant with food safety standards, and perform regular quality checks throughout the shift to ensure products consistently meet specification.
Beyond the technical aspects of the role, Machine Operators work closely with the wider production team, contributing to a safe, efficient, and collaborative working environment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, reduce waste, and drive overall line performance.
Duties
- Carry out pre-checks and cleaning of the production line before each run
- Set the machine to the correct production recipe
- Prepare raw materials ready for production
- Replenish packaging and films to the line throughout the shift, including stacking trays
- Set up production batches in line with the production plan
- Carry out manual handling tasks, including stacking finished goods
- Maintain hygiene standards across all equipment
- Complete production documentation accurately throughout the shift
- Replenish stock/materials
- Record machine downtime and work with the team to help minimise it
- Resolve machine stoppages promptly to maintain line efficiency
- Achieve OEE and waste reduction targets
- Work collaboratively as part of a wider production team
- Maintain health and safety standards, adhering to all policies and procedures at all times
- Support and help implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, safety, and waste reduction
- Assist in training team members and identify own training and development needs
- Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as reasonably required

4 on, 4 off
6pm - 6am
Pay: £25,780.00 per year
