SEND Tutors & Mentors – PDA / Neurodivergence
We are seeking one or more tutors and mentors with experience of working with neurodivergent young people, particularly those with a PDA profile.
This is a significant placement, with potentially up to 25 hours per week available for the right candidate, although the hours can be split across multiple practitioners depending on availability and qualifications.
Tutoring
The tutoring provision is delivered online at primary level.
Tutors must have:
- QTS
- Experience teaching or tutoring primary-aged learners
- Experience working with neurodivergent young people
- A reliable internet connection and suitable setup for online teaching
Mentoring
The mentoring provision is face-to-face in BS14.
Mentors do not need QTS, but must be able to travel reliably to BS14.
All practitioners must:
- Have experience working with neurodivergent young people, particularly those with a PDA profile
- Understand low-demand, collaborative and relationship-based approaches
- Be able to adapt their approach to the individual young person
- Be reliable and able to commit to agreed hours until at least the end of the academic year
- Be comfortable working independently and communicating with families and other professionals
- Ideally have some willingness to participate in sports/physical activity with the young person
We are particularly interested in practitioners who are curious about the reasons behind behaviour and barriers to engagement, and who can work collaboratively with a young person rather than relying on traditional behaviour-management approaches.
