We are looking for a confident, energetic and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team at our vibrant and lively town-centre bar.
This is a hands-on hospitality management role in a busy venue with a strong focus on great drinks, food, events, parties and exceptional customer service.
We are looking for someone who enjoys the buzz of a busy bar and is comfortable taking responsibility for a venue, leading a young team and maintaining high standards even when working under pressure.
Our weekends can be extremely busy, with late-night trading until 2am, private parties and events, so you will need to be resilient, organised and able to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
This is not a Monday-to-Friday management position. Evening, weekend and late-night availability is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the venue.
- Take responsibility for shifts and confidently lead the team in the absence of senior management.
- Lead, motivate and supervise bar and hospitality staff during busy services.
- Ensure consistently high standards of customer service.
- Manage busy Friday and Saturday night services, including late-night trading until 2am.
- Help organise and successfully deliver events, parties and functions.
- Oversee both food and drink service, ensuring excellent standards are maintained.
- Support the team during particularly busy periods and be prepared to work hands-on wherever needed.
- Deal professionally and confidently with customer enquiries, complaints and difficult situations.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation throughout the venue.
- Assist with stock control, deliveries and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
- Complete opening and closing procedures, including cashing up and end-of-night responsibilities.
- Assist with staff rotas, shift organisation and delegation of duties.
- Train, support and develop members of the team.
- Ensure staff follow company procedures and maintain professional standards.
- Support administration, record keeping and management reporting.
- Ensure licensing, health & safety and company procedures are followed.
- Communicate effectively with senior management regarding incidents, staffing and venue operations.
What We're Looking For
- Previous bar, pub, restaurant or hospitality supervisory/management experience is essential.
- Strong leadership skills and the confidence to manage a busy team.
- Excellent communication and people-management skills.
- A hands-on management style – you must be prepared to get involved during busy service.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Experience with food service as well as bar operations.
- Ability to remain calm and make sensible decisions under pressure.
- Resilience is essential – this is a lively, fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Confidence dealing with difficult situations and resolving problems professionally.
- Reliable, responsible and able to take ownership of your shift.
- A positive personality with a genuine passion for hospitality and customer service.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, events and late nights.
- Over 25
- At least two years experience in hospitality leadership
- You must be comfortable working until 2am on late-night shifts.
