Working hours: 35 hours per week (Working Monday to Friday, plus occasional Saturdays)

We are looking for a Community Assistant to work closely with our Community Centre Manager and help ensure the Hub runs smoothly day to day.
Job Summary and Key Responsibilities:
As a Community Assistant, you’ll be involved in all areas of the Hub. No two days are the same, and you’ll play a key part in making sure our community receives practical help, kindness and a warm welcome. Your responsibilities include:

Supporting people who may be experiencing crisis or difficulty

Providing practical assistance through our Pantry Store and Café

Serving customers in the Charity Shop and taking orders in the Café

Carrying out general administrative tasks
-
Supporting and encouraging volunteers

Assisting with the organisation and running of larger events
This is a hands-on role where flexibility, compassion and calmness are essential. You’ll be someone who enjoys variety, works well with people, and is ready to step in wherever help is needed.
Successful candidate will have:

Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage your own workload and support others

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships quickly

A genuine sense of empathy and compassion

A good level of spoken and written English

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes
It would be beneficial if you also have:

Experience supporting people in a community, care or customer-facing role

Retail, charity or hospitality experience

The ability to speak additional languages such as Portuguese, Polish or Romanian

An understanding of statutory, charitable and community support available in Jersey
