Discover Bikes is a full service bike shop based in the heart of the Cotswolds with stores just outside South Cerney and in Swindon. Renowned for exceptional customer service and expert bike maintenance, we are committed to providing top-quality cycling products and services while fostering a passionate cycling community. Alongside our workshop and sales, we have a large fleet of rental bikes and offer bike hire and guided rides to locals and holiday makers alike, development of this is the key element of this new role.
Job Summary
We have recently opened a new bike hire hub in Bibury (voted the World's Most Beautiful Village by Time magazine) along with a new sub-brand "Hire Your Adventure" and are looking for someone who will be a key part of making this a success and developing an exciting area of the business going forward.
The ideal candidate will have the passion and drive to help develop a business and look for exciting new opportunities as they arise, it would be ideal for a graduate fresh out of uni looking to put their stamp on a small but dynamic set-up, someone still at uni who could work full time until September and then maybe step back to some ad hoc remote work during term time, or someone looking to try something different and switch career's who wants to feel a strong sense of ownership in a small team.
The role is a full time position until the end of September, with a view to becoming permanent should that work for both parties. It will include weekend work (as that is the busy time of the week!) and will be 32-40 hours per week depending on what works best.
For the right person, we'd be happy to look at future cycling industry specific training and qualifications.
The main location for the role will be based at Bibury Trout Farm where our new hire hun is located, therefore own transport is a must as you will not be able to rely on buses! A bike is obviously a great option!
Due to some solo working requirements this role is for over 18's only due to insurance reasons.
Responsibilities
Will include, but not be limited to...
- Check out and book in hire bikes with customers using our online booking platform
- Maintain a clean and organised hire hub at Bibury
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and offering advice to rental customers
- Learn basic maintenance to keep our hire fleet in great condition
- Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times
- Look for and develop new opportunities for Hire Your Adventure
- Assist with social media and marketing for the hire business
Qualifications
- Keen interest in cycling / leisure activities and a desire to help others to enjoy their holidays
- Strong willingness to learn new skills
- Good communication skills and a friendly attitude
- Ability to work well within a team
- Basic understanding of mechanical tools is advantageous but not essential
- Enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service
- Reliable and punctual with a professional approach
- Prior experience in retail or customer-facing roles is a plus but not required
