Maths & Science Tutor (Homeschooling) – London & International Travel
Location: Shepherd's Bush, London (in person) & Online
Start: September 2026 (trial sessions available over the summer)
Hours: 2–3 sessions per week, 2 hours per session
We are looking for an exceptional tutor with a strong background in Maths and Science to support two upper primary/lower secondary-aged students through a bespoke homeschooling programme.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced educator who enjoys delivering engaging, discussion-based learning and building strong relationships with students. The role begins with in-person tuition in London before transitioning to online lessons while the family travels internationally.
The Role
You will deliver engaging Maths, Science and project-based learning, broadly aligned with the California State Standards while extending beyond the curriculum where appropriate.
There is a strong emphasis on:
- Mathematical reasoning and problem-solving
- Real-world application of learning
- Curiosity-led, discussion-based teaching
- Project work inspired by the students' interests and international travel
- Adapting lessons to suit different learning environments
The Ideal Tutor
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a strong background in Maths, with confidence teaching Science
- Has experience teaching upper primary and lower secondary students
- Has previous homeschooling or alternative education experience (preferred)
- Is engaging, enthusiastic and able to build excellent rapport
- Can balance challenge with encouragement and humour
- Is confident acting as both an educator and mentor
- Is flexible and adaptable, particularly around changing schedules and time zones
Knowledge of the US curriculum (California State Standards) would be an advantage but is not essential.
Key Details
- Phase 1: In-person tuition in Shepherd's Bush, London (approximately six weeks from September)
- Phase 2: Ongoing online tuition during international travel
- Travel destinations include: Europe, Morocco, Thailand, Japan, New Zealand and Southeast Asia
- Trial sessions: Available over the summer
Pay: £50.00-£60.00 per hour
