The Role
We are recruiting for an experienced and hands-on Setter Operator to join a busy automotive manufacturing operation in Telford.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating Inestella production equipment, carrying out first-line fault finding and completing non-PLC maintenance to minimise downtime and keep production running efficiently.
This is a practical, shop-floor-based role suited to someone with experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment who is confident diagnosing and resolving mechanical, pneumatic and sensor-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate Inestella machinery and production equipment.
- Carry out first-line fault finding on production equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, pneumatic and electrical issues within your level of competence.
- Carry out TPM activities and support ongoing improvement of equipment and processes.
- Complete planned and reactive non-PLC maintenance.
- Identify, replace and fault-find sensors and associated components.
- Diagnose and repair pneumatic issues, including airlines, fittings and connections.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Carry out routine checks and adjustments to machinery.
- Escalate more complex electrical, PLC or engineering faults to the appropriate maintenance team.
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to identify recurring faults and improve equipment reliability.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
- Follow company Health & Safety, quality and manufacturing procedures at all times.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Setter Operator, Setter, Technician, Maintenance Technician or similar role within manufacturing.
- Experience working with automated or semi-automated production machinery.
- Good mechanical and pneumatic fault-finding ability.
- Experience diagnosing and replacing sensors.
- Ability to carry out basic electrical fault finding.
- Experience with non-PLC maintenance.
- Practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a production environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong focus on safety, quality and production efficiency.

Working Pattern
The role operates on a rotating shift pattern:
- Week 1: 07:00–15:00
- Week 2: 15:00–23:00
Candidates must be comfortable working rotating shifts.
