About the Role
Shankill Parish Caring Association is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Community Engagement & Development Officer to lead the delivery of its Minority Ethnic Programme, funded through The Executive Office's Minority Ethnic Development Fund.
This is an exciting opportunity to help build stronger, more inclusive communities by working alongside minority ethnic communities, supporting participation, encouraging community leadership and creating opportunities for people from different backgrounds to connect and thrive.
Working closely with community members, local organisations and statutory partners, you will build trusted relationships, coordinate activities and events, support community-led initiatives, monitor programme outcomes and contribute to the successful delivery of this important community development programme.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in community engagement, community development or a related field.
- Experience of planning, organising and delivering community activities, projects or events.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships across diverse communities.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion.
- An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and confidentiality.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Desirable
It would be advantageous to have:
- Experience of working with minority ethnic communities.
- Experience of delivering externally funded programmes or projects.
- A qualification in Community Development, Community Relations, Youth Work or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of the voluntary and community sector within Northern Ireland.
- The ability to communicate in an additional language relevant to local minority ethnic communities.
