We are more than just a climbing wall…We are a way of life! We aim to inspire health and happiness, passion and knowledge. Through a creatively stimulating and physically challenging environment, helping you realise and achieve your full potential.
We call it play!
The Boardroom Climbing prides itself on offering high quality climbing and home-made dishes, breads and bakes in the North Wales area.
Our food offering is a fundamental part of the experience we want people to have when they visit us – not a ‘nice to have’ bolt-on to an activity.
From daily offerings to specials and events, our kitchen team bake all our cakes, pickle all of our pickles, jam all our jams and strive to make everything we can in-house, providing good quality dishes and pizzas with seasonal ingredients.
You’ll work as part of a small, highly focused, but friendly kitchen team where every member is encouraged to have input in our regularly changing menu and selection of bakes. You’ll actively contribute to the future success of the kitchen within a busy climbing centre…
What we are looking for:
…as such we’re looking for someone who shares our passion for delivering quality, and who can hit the ground running using proven professional kitchen experience and skills. You’ll currently be working as, at minimum, a Sous-Chef or Senior Chef de Partie level, or you may be a Head Chef looking to work in a different, more relaxed environment. Since we aim to make everything from scratch, a commitment to learning and expanding your skill set to support us in our offering is a must.
This role would be ideal for someone who wants to use the skills they’ve developed, and their passion for preparing and serving good quality food, but in a non-traditional setting with a good work-life balance.
What we’re offering:
- No unpaid overtime
- No unreasonable hours – we have reasonably social hours for a chef, finishing at 6pm at weekends and 10pm weekdays.
- Typically two consecutive days off, including one weekend day
- Friendly and positive working environment
- Flexibility with regards to holiday
- Free climbing and use of a well-equipped gym, for you and a friend/partner
- Employee discount on food and shop items
What we need from you:
- At least 2 years of recent experience, working at least Senior Chef de Partie or Sous Chef level in a busy professional environment
- A high standard of cleanliness and organisation in your own work and when supporting others to stay on top of theirs.
- Experience working with fresh ingredients and following recipes
- Confidence working within a small and collaborative team and helping things run smoothly day to day.
- A strong team player who communicates well and supports others.
- Able to stay calm under pressure to support a relaxed, positive kitchen environment during busy services.
- Able to work well with people across different teams while staying focused on task
- Consistent in delivering good quality food, even when things get busy
- An understanding of food hygiene, COSHH and HACCP principles.
- Experience taking responsibility for daily kitchen responsibilities: completing paperwork, writing detailed prep lists, communicating issues with other team members, ordering stock and minimising wastage, maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment.
Not essential, but if you also have the following, we’d really like to hear from you:
- Baking skills and confidence with recipes (training can be provided).
- Experience working with pizza dough or sourdough bread (training can be provided).
- Experience working with others to come up with menu ideas and seasonal specials.
