Accounts Assistant
Role Profile
Reporting to the Construction Operations Manager you will be responsible for assisting with purchase ledger activities, including working closely with civils contractors and contract managers to verify the accuracy of invoices. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start a career in Finance, in which both external training and on the job experience will be gained.

The job role will evolve with the rapid growth of the business, and this is a great time to embed within the Company and grow with it. The role currently involves:
Primary responsibilities
- Working with civils contractors and contract managers to verify the accuracy of invoices.
- Reviewing purchase invoices to ensure that CIS, retentions and VAT have been applied correctly.
- Recording invoices in the general ledger and allocating to the correct project.
- Arranging supplier payments on the company’s bank portal and obtaining the relevant approval.
- Reconciliation tasks linked to build completion and retention.
Other responsibilities
· Assist with the finance team’s month end processes.
· Other ad-hoc accounting and administrative tasks as required, all to support advancing your professional development.
Experience required
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- A strong attention to detail.
- IT literate with good ability using Microsoft Excel or willingness to invest time learning.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Training offered
- As a new trainee within the finance function, you will be given the opportunity to train towards an Advanced Diploma in Accounting, with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT Level 3) or AAT Level 4 if AAT 3 is already completed.
Career progression
- As the business grows and you complete your training, you will be able to take on more responsibility in bigger financial roles, in addition to working towards a “Chartered” qualification further in the future.
Working hours
This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm
