Chef de Partie — Origin Restaurant, Lewtrenchard Manor

We're at an exciting point in our journey at Lewtrenchard Manor. Following a significant restoration of this beautiful Jacobean manor house on the edge of Dartmoor, our restaurant Origin is finding its feet — and we're looking for a Chef de Partie who wants to be part of something that's genuinely growing and improving over time.
This isn't a kitchen that's already arrived. It's one that's on its way — and we think that's a more interesting place to be.
The role
You'll run your own section with real ownership, taking care of the prep, cooking, and presentation of dishes to a consistently high standard. As we work toward recognition for the restaurant, your attention to detail and pride in your craft will matter enormously.
You'll work closely with the Head Chef, contributing your own ideas to menu development and dish creation. We want people who think about food, not just cook it.
There's also a quieter but equally important part of the role: helping to bring on the Commis Chefs and Apprentices in the team. Sharing what you know, with patience and good humour, is something we value as much as technical ability.
What we're looking for
Experience in a restaurant kitchen is important, along with a solid grounding in cooking techniques and an eye for presentation. You'll need to be comfortable leading the section when required and keeping things organised during service.
Beyond that, we're really looking for someone who's calm under pressure, takes genuine pleasure in doing things well, and wants to be part of a team that's building something together. A good understanding of food safety and hygiene is essential — and a warm, hospitality-minded approach to the people around you, in the kitchen and beyond it, goes a long way here.
The setting
