THE JOB ROLE
Due to the continued growth of ThermaMech we are looking for a suitably experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead on project delivery. You will work as part of the ThermaMech team as a Project Manager providing a range of project management services to our customers.
Working closely with the wider ThermaMech team you will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of projects, meeting deadlines, managing budgets, coordinating teams, and maintaining high health & safety and quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Taking responsibility for the efficient project management of resources to include:
- Plan, organize, and manage all construction works, including mechanical services and civils, of decentralised energy projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and specifications.
- Manage the design and build of district heating networks including district heating preinsulated plastic and steel systems
- Oversee the design, engineering, installation, and handover of all construction works, including mechanical services and civils, specialising in decentralised energy systems.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to develop project plans, ensuring they align with the project's objectives and requirements.
- Lead project teams, assigning tasks, providing guidance, monitoring and reporting on progress to ensure timely and successful project completion.
- Manage project budgets and resources, ensuring effective cost control measures and efficient utilization of materials and labour.
- Conduct regular quality and H&S inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- · Manage all project health and safety requirements including the development preconstruction documentation (CPP), safe systems of work and RAMS.
- Resolve any technical issues or conflicts that may arise during the project and identify innovative solutions to enhance project delivery.
- Keep stakeholders informed of project progress, risks, and changes through regular communication and comprehensive reports.
- Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to decentralised energy projects.
- The effective management of the handover phase including testing and commissioning and the management of O&M completion documentation
- Provide leadership and management of directly employed site team members and sub-contractors
Essential
- Proven technical knowledge of Mechanical Services
- Knowledge and skills to effectively problem solve
- HND in Buildings Services or Mechanical Engineering Proven experience managing civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure projects.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent commercial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
- Experience managing subcontractors, direct labour and supply chain partners.
- Strong understanding of programme management and project reporting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations and quality management.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office and digital project management systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience delivering district heating, buried pipeline or energy infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of mechanical pipework installation, pressure testing and commissioning.
- Experience working under NEC contracts.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Black Card.
- Temporary Works Coordinator.
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
