The Role
We're looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to take ownership of and shape the payroll function at Trafford Leisure.
This is more than a payroll processing role. As our payroll subject matter expert, you'll lead the delivery of an accurate, compliant and customer-focused payroll service for more than 300 employees across multiple locations.
Working closely with People, Finance, managers and external providers, you'll strengthen payroll governance, improve systems and processes, and provide valuable workforce insight that supports organisational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Trafford Leisure's end-to-end payroll function
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately, efficiently and compliantly
- Act as the organisation's payroll subject matter expert
- Lead year-end activities and statutory reporting requirements
- Produce payroll reporting, workforce insight and analysis
- Drive continuous improvement across payroll processes and systems
- Build effective relationships with colleagues, managers and external providers
- Support organisational projects, workforce planning and reward initiatives
- Ensure effective governance, compliance and audit readiness
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll already have significant experience managing end-to-end payroll and be confident interpreting UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
You'll enjoy taking ownership, solving problems and building strong working relationships across an organisation.
You'll bring:
- Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll operations
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and statutory reporting
- Experience managing pensions administration, reconciliations and year-end processes
- Experience within a multi-site, operational or shift-based environment
- Experience using payroll, HR or workforce management systems
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and professional integrity
- The confidence to influence, support and challenge stakeholders where appropriate
