About Us
This role is for a brand-new food-to-go and convenience destination opening in Reading. Our site brings together a fresh coffee and bakery counter, jacket potatoes, global bowls, and stone-baked pizza all cooked and prepared fresh in-store. We're building something that serves everyone from busy commuters to local families, and we're looking for an experienced Cafe/Bakery Manager to help bring it to life from day one.
The Role
As Manager, you'll take the lead on our food-to-go operation, overseeing the coffee and bakery counter as well as our wider fresh food offer. You'll be a hands-on leader, responsible for the day-to-day running of the cafe, the quality and consistency of what we serve, and building a team that shares our passion for fresh, high-quality food.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of the cafe and food-to-go counters, including coffee, bakery, and hot food service
- Recruit, train, and lead a team of baristas and food-to-go staff, including barista training for new starters
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety across the kitchen and service areas
- Oversee fresh food preparation and cooking in-store, ensuring quality and consistency
- Manage stock, ordering, and supplier relationships to minimise waste and control costs
- Deliver excellent customer service and build strong relationships with the local community
- Monitor sales performance and work towards site targets
- Support the wider team during our launch period, including staff recruitment and site setup ahead of opening
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience managing a cafe, coffee shop, or food-to-go site
- Strong barista skills and knowledge of coffee and bakery products
- A background in food preparation and kitchen operations
- Level 2 (or above) Food Hygiene certificate, or willingness to obtain one
- Confident people manager with experience recruiting and training staff
- Excellent customer service skills and a hands-on, can-do attitude
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-footfall environment
- Enthusiasm for being part of a brand-new site from the ground up
Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
