Registered Manager – Children's Residential Care Home | Bacup
Salary – £60,000 DOE | Full-Time, Permanent
Are you an experienced, passionate leader ready to make a genuine difference in young people's lives? Our client, a well-established provider of children's residential care, is looking for a Registered Manager to lead a home in Kent and drive outstanding outcomes for the young people in their care.
About the Role
As Registered Manager, you'll take full ownership of the home — ensuring it meets Ofsted's Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, and that every young person receives consistent, high-quality care. You'll lead a motivated staff team, manage the home's budget and resources, and act as the responsible person for safeguarding and child protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and inspire a team of care colleagues, providing supervision, appraisal, and performance management
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, including Reg 44 and Reg 45 submissions and monthly manager's audits
- Oversee safeguarding, risk assessments, and health & safety across the home
- Manage budgets, petty cash, and resource planning
- Liaise with local authorities, schools, health services, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people
- Lead on staff induction, training, and development
- Act as a positive role model, fostering a homely, safe, and nurturing environment
- Participate in the on-call system
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience managing a children's residential setting, ideally at Registered Manager or Deputy Manager level
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People's setting) — or working towards it
- Strong understanding of the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
- Full UK driving licence (travel within the UK may be required)
