Join our dynamic team as a Laundry Assistant, where your energy and attention to detail will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation. In this role. You will be responsible for efficiently processing linens, towels, resident clothing and other textiles. Your proactive approach and dedication will contribute to the smooth operation of our Care Home environment.
- Operate laundry machines and equipment safely and efficiently to wash, dry, fold, and iron linens and garments.
- Sort laundry items by type, color, and care instructions to prevent damage and ensure quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Follow proper handling procedures for delicate or special-care items to preserve their quality.
- Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation standards at all times to ensure a safe working environment.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
* Team player
* Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List (where applicable)
Desired:
* Previous experience preferred but training will be given.
* Good communication skills
Communication:
Participate in Staff and Client meetings as required.
Training & Development:
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
Health & Safety:
Ensure the laundry room is clean and tidy. On a daily basis: wash down washers, dryers and
laundry bags; clean lint trays / vents; mop floors.
Use appropriate protective clothing when dealing with soiled / infected linen.
Ensure statutory Health & Safety standards in the laundry area.
Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another.
Understand and ensure the implementation of the Care Centre’s Health and Safety policy.
Emergency and Fire procedures.
Report to the Home Manager, or the Handyperson, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture and equipment or any potential hazard.
Promote safe working practice in the Care home.
General:
Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Care Centre.
Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
Notify the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
Ensure the security of the Care Centre is maintained at all times.
Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
