As part of our ambitious agenda and ongoing service development, we are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and compassionate nurses to join A3 – The Hip Fracture Unit at St Helier Hospital.
Are you a compassionate nurse? Are you enthusiastic, highly motivated, and passionate about caring for older adults with complex needs? Do you have a desire to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within a specialist orthopaedic setting?
A3 Hip Fracture Unit is a dedicated 22-bedded ward specialising in the care of patients with hip fractures and other fragility fractures, predominantly older adults over 60 years old with complex physical, cognitive, and social care needs. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, including orthopaedic surgeons, orthogeriatricians, therapists, and specialist nurses, you will play a key role in supporting patients throughout their recovery journey, from admission through to discharge planning.
All staff members are encouraged to develop and excel in their roles, and we actively support professional growth and career progression. You will have the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills in orthopaedic and geriatric care, including the management of frailty, delirium, dementia, pain, rehabilitation, and discharge coordination. You will be supported by the Ward Sister, Clinical Matron, and a highly visible senior leadership team who pride themselves on a transformational and supportive approach to leadership.

The post holder will provide high quality care and work towards developing and working within a cohesive multidisciplinary team. The expectations within this job description will be met through, hands on clinical practice, education and training, and research. The post holder will be caring and compassionate with patients, relatives and staff, and will actively listen, understand and respond to the patients’ needs and improve and innovate for patient safety. You will provide highly skilled assistance in all and act as a professional member of the team. The initial objectives of the post will be reviewed with the post holder on an annual basis.
