The role at a glance
- The home: 2-bed children's residential home in Whalley Range, Manchester.
- The team: A largely new team that you'll help shape alongside the Registered Manager.

- Salary: £35,000–£45,000 depending on experience.
- On-call: Shared on-call responsibilities with additional payments where applicable.

- Reporting to: The Registered Manager, with direct support from our Responsible Individual and senior leadership team.

What you'll do
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home.
- Lead shifts and provide effective leadership to the staff team.
- Help recruit, induct, supervise and develop Residential Support Workers.
- Ensure safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do.
- Support with care planning, risk assessments and quality assurance.
- Monitor compliance with Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Assist with Ofsted preparation, Regulation 44 visits and action plans.
- Build positive relationships with placing authorities, families, education providers and health professionals.
- Lead by example, promoting a positive culture and consistently high standards of care.

Who we're looking for
Essential:
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Team Leader or Senior Residential Support Worker within a Children's Residential Home.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding legislation and Children's Homes Regulations.
- Experience leading shifts and supervising staff.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (minimum).
- Working towards, or willing to complete, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
You'll stand out if you:
- Have experience preparing for Ofsted inspections.
- Are passionate about achieving outstanding outcomes for children.
- Enjoy coaching and developing staff.
- Are organised, resilient and able to lead confidently under pressure.
- Want to progress into a Registered Manager position.
Pay: £38,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Manchester M16: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Education:
- Diploma of Higher Education (preferred)
