Hockerhill is a unique indoor and outdoor adventure play space for children located in Brewood, South Staffordshire. We are a family run start up business aiming to provide a fun, nurturing and educational space for children and their families.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in supervising and managing the kitchen staff, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of all food items, and maintaining high standards of food preparation and presentation. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership abilities, excellent culinary skills, and a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences. 
Responsibilities:
- Assist Head Chef: Collaborate closely with the Head Chef in recipe development, and food preparation to ensure consistency and quality.
- Kitchen Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including managing food production, inventory control, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Staff Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and food quality standards.
- Food Preparation: Lead by example in culinary expertise by preparing and cooking dishes according to established recipes and specifications.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of food items to ensure freshness, taste, and presentation meet the play barn's standards.
- Safety and Hygiene: Maintain and enforce proper food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in accordance with local health regulations.
- Menu Development: Contribute innovative ideas for new dishes, menus, and specials while considering seasonality, cost, and customer preferences.
- Ordering and Inventory: Assist in inventory management, including monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and minimising waste to maximise efficiency and profitability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff, servers, and management to ensure seamless communication and a cohesive dining experience.
- Adherence to Policies: Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Skills:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques, cuisines, and food safety practices.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and kitchen management software is a plus.
- Flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
