Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Companionship Care Staff to provide personalised support and assistance to individuals in various care settings but usually private residences. The role involves fostering meaningful connections, ensuring safety, and supporting daily activities to enhance the quality of life for clients. Prior experience in care, dementia or Alzheimer's is highly desirable. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives through empathetic caregiving.
Duties
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, promoting social engagement and mental well-being
- Assist with daily activities such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, and personal hygiene
- Support mobility and assist with walking or transferring clients safely
- Provide specialised care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's, employing behaviour management techniques
- Support clients with activities of daily living.
- Accompany clients on outings or appointments, ensuring safe transportation (driving experience preferred)
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any concerns or changes in condition
Requirements
- Previous experience in Companionship home care is advantageous
- Certification in first aid is preferred; willingness to undertake training if not already qualified
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with mobility needs
- Valid driving licence for transportation duties (if applicable)
- Strong interpersonal skills with a caring and empathetic nature
- Ability to manage behaviour effectively and handle challenging situations calmly
- Flexibility to working hours
- Basic cooking skills for meal preparation and understanding of medication administration protocols
