We are looking for a well-organised, enthusiastic and reliable Deputy Administrator to join our team at Hutton-in-the-Forest, supporting the day-to-day administration of this beautiful historic house and its busy calendar of events.
This is a varied role combining accounts, administration, event support and visitor engagement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working in a small team, takes pride in their work and is happy to get involved wherever needed.
Hours:
- Two days per week during the summer season, with occasional additional days
- One day per week during the winter
Key responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounts
- Process invoices and staff wages
- Support and deputise for the House Administrator when required
- Prepare income and expenditure reports using Excel
- Produce promotional and operational materials, including posters, menus, signs, labels and advertisements
- Take minutes at weekly meetings
- Manage emails, telephone calls and post
- Assist with events and the smooth running of the house as required
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- Strong bookkeeping and accounting experience
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Excel
- Experience or familiarity with VAT and internet banking
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A friendly, professional and approachable manner
- The ability to work independently while being a supportive member of a small team
- A flexible, practical can-do attitude
- The confidence to take responsibility and step into a leadership role when required
