We are currently recruiting for an HR Assistant to join a busy and supportive People and Culture team within a purpose-led organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administration and customer service skills who is looking to develop their experience within a professional HR environment.
The role
As HR Assistant, you will provide accurate, efficient and confidential administrative support across the employee lifecycle, working closely with HR Officers and the wider People and Culture team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Acting as a first point of contact for routine HR queries and escalating more complex matters appropriately.
Supporting recruitment and selection, including preparing adverts, arranging interviews and communicating with candidates.
Completing pre-employment checks, including right-to-work, references and DBS checks where required.
Preparing and issuing offer letters, contracts, contract amendments and other HR correspondence.
Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records and updating the HR information system.
Supporting onboarding and induction to ensure new employees receive a welcoming and consistent experience.
Monitoring the probation process and ensuring reviews and records are completed within agreed timescales.
Processing payroll and HR system changes accurately and within deadlines.
Supporting employee benefits administration.
Providing administrative support for absence, disciplinary, grievance, capability and other employee relations processes.
Maintaining HR trackers, spreadsheets and action logs.
Supporting workforce reporting and ensuring HR data is accurate and up to date.
Coordinating meetings, interviews, training sessions and other People and Culture activities.
Supporting HR projects and process improvements.
About you
We are looking for someone who is professional, approachable and highly organised, with a genuine interest in developing their HR career.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience in an administrative role.
Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Experience maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information.
The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
A customer-focused approach and the confidence to deal with queries professionally.
Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
The ability to work accurately with databases, spreadsheets and information systems.
CIPD Level 3, or a willingness to work towards the qualification.
Previous experience within HR, recruitment or people administration would be advantageous, but is not essential.
