We are a growing family-run farming business managing modern poultry farms and producing high-quality fertile hatching eggs.
This is a hands-on livestock role, working directly with flocks of breeder chickens in controlled-environment poultry houses (barn systems). Our farms are well-run, structured, and focused on doing things properly.
No previous farming experience is required. We will train you. What matters is that you are reliable, practical, and take pride in your work. This role is the starting point for a long-term position, with clear progression within the business.
The Role
You will be working directly with live birds every day, taking responsibility for their health, welfare, and environment.
This is a physical, practical job. You will be on your feet, walking sheds, observing birds, and responding to what you see.
Responsibilities
- Walk flocks daily, checking bird health, behaviour, and welfare
- Identify and act on issues early (health, environment, equipment impact)
- Support feeding and monitor bird condition
- Maintain the correct shed environment (ventilation, temperature, lighting, water)
- Collect, grade, and pack hatching eggs
- Check and maintain equipment (feed, water, ventilation systems)
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, biosecurity, and health & safety
Requirements
- Strong timekeeping and attendance (non-negotiable)
- Practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and take responsibility
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a farm environment (warm, dusty, and physical at times)
- Full UK driving licence and own transport (rural location)
No previous farming experience required — full training provided.
Working Hours
- 40 hours per week
- Typically 6:00am – 2:30pm
- Weekend work on a rota basis
- Overtime available during busy periods and for holiday/sickness cover
Pay & Benefits
- Up to £14.17 per hour (depending on age and experience)
