Hotel General Manager – East Devon
Full-Time | Manager Accommodation Available
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Hotel General Manager to lead a well-established hotel in East Devon.
This is a busy, operational hotel with a strong mix of leisure guests, coach tours and group business. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the day-to-day operation while building, developing and motivating a strong management and operational team.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the hotel and ensure consistently high standards across all departments
- Recruit, build and develop a strong management and operational team
- Manage busy periods, coach tours and group business confidently and efficiently
- Work closely with the reservations, sales and revenue teams to maximise occupancy and revenue
- Develop local sales opportunities and build relationships with tour operators, groups and repeat customers
- Take an active role in the hotel's sales and marketing strategy
- Maintain strong control over payroll, purchasing, operating costs and departmental performance
- Drive guest satisfaction, online reviews and service standards
- Ensure the property is well maintained and all health, safety and compliance requirements are met
- Work closely with the owners and senior management on the continued growth and development of the hotel
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Hotel General Manager, Hotel Manager or senior Operations Manager in a busy full-service hotel
- Strong experience managing coach tours, groups and high-volume operations
- Good commercial awareness with an understanding of revenue, costs and hotel profitability
- Experience in sales and marketing and the ability to actively develop new business
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to be visible throughout the hotel
- The ability to build a positive team culture while maintaining clear standards and accountability
