Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Shift Manager to oversee daily operations within our warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of logistics and materials handling, and the ability to optimise processes for efficiency. This role offers an excellent opportunity to manage a dynamic team, utilise mechanical knowledge, and contribute to continuous process improvement. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring smooth shipping and receiving activities, maintaining safety standards, and reporting to the Depot manager.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate shift activities to ensure operational targets are met efficiently and safely.
- Oversee materials handling processes, ensuring accurate inventory management and timely movement of goods.
- Manage shipping & receiving operations, including scheduling, documentation, and liaising with logistics providers.
- Lead team management efforts by providing guidance, training, and motivation to warehouse staff.
- Implement process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and safety standards.
- Operate or oversee the operation of forklifts and other heavy machinery in compliance with health & safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce safety protocols across the shift.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to optimise supply chain activities.
- Assist with mechanical troubleshooting and basic maintenance tasks as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies regarding heavy lifting, hazardous materials, and equipment usage.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse management or logistics roles, preferably within a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of materials handling techniques and warehouse operations.
- Experience operating forklifts and other heavy machinery; forklift certification is desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to warehouse equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures and logistics coordination.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently; physical fitness is essential.

Pay: £35,000.00-£36,500.00 per year
